Description:
Elytrigia (Elymus repens (L.) Gould) is a perennial herb of the genus Elytrigia in the gramineae family. Rhizomes with transverse walking. Culms erect, glabrous, green or glaucous, 3-5 nodes, 40 -- 80 cm tall. Leaf sheaths are smooth and glabrous, while basally tiller sheaths are downward-pilose. Spikes erect, 10 -- 18 cm long and 8 -- 15 mm wide. Caryopsis oblong, dark brown, ca. 6 mm long. Flowering and fruiting from June to August.
