Introduction:
Eucommia ulmoides is a genus of Eucommia (E. committee), which contains high chlorogenic acid. Chlorogenic acid, also known as 3-CAR -- Feoyquinic acid, is a phenylpropanoid synthesized by intermediate products of pentose phosphate pathway (HMS) in plants during aerobic respiration (Gao Jinming et al., 1999). Recent studies have shown that the content of chlorogenic acid in eucommia ulmoides leaves is high, ranging from 1 to 5.5 (Zang Youwei, 1989). Chlorogenic acid has a variety of pharmacological effects such as cholagogic, antibacterial, antiviral, antihypertensive, increase of white blood cells and excitation of central nervous system (Zhang Anling et al., 2OO1).
