Cinchona, also called quinine tree, is a plant of cinchona genus of the madder family. It is mainly produced in Indonesia, India and South America, and also grows in Yunnan, Guangxi and Taiwan of China. People here can collect cinchona all year round and extract alkaloids from it. Cinchona is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine commonly used to treat malaria, fever, etc. Cinchona medicinal bark, leaves contain alkaloids.
