Description:
Lacquer bark, Chinese medicine name. Toxicodendron vernicifluum (Stokes) F.A. barkl. Bark or root bark of a tree. In addition to Heilongjiang, Jilin, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, all over the distribution. It has the effect of setting bones. Indications for a fall fracture.
Bark grayish white, coarse, irregularly divided, branchlets stout, brown pilose; Winter bud shoots apex, large and conspicuous, tomentose brownish yellow. Odd pinnate compound leaves spiral, alternate, 22-75cm long; Petiole 7 -- 14cm long, puberulent, inflated near base, semicircular, flat above; Leaflets 4-6 pairs, petioles 4-7mm long, ovate, ovate-elliptic or oblong, 6 -- 13cm long and 3 -- 6cm wide, apex acuminate or acute, base oblique, rounded or broadly cuneate, entire, glabrous above or midvein puberulent, initially hairy below, densely hazel pilose along veins when old; Lateral veins 10-15 pairs, both surfaces slightly convex, membranous to thin papery.
