Description:
Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.; English name: Sunflowers) : it is a plant belonging to the order Platycodon, compositae and sunflower. So named because the inflorescence moves with the sun. Herbs annual, 1-3.5 m tall, up to 9 m. Stem erect, round much angular, qualitative hard by white coarse bristle. Leaf blade usually alternate, apex acute or acuminate, base 3-veined, margin coarsely serrate, both surfaces scabrous, hairy, stipitate. Inflorescences capitate, 10 -- 30 cm in diam., solitary at stem apex or branch apex. Involucral bracts multilayered, foliaceous, imbricate, bristly, flowering in summer, inflorescence margin bearing neutral yellow ligulate flowers, not fruity. Inflorescence middle bisexual tubular flowers, brown or purple, can bear. Achene rectangular ovate, pericarp lignified.
