Description:
Lemon balm is native to Europe but is now found all over the world. It grows not only in herbaceous plants, but also in crops for the Polish manufacturing of medicine, cosmetics and furniture. The plant grows to a height of 70-150 cm. The leaves have a mild lemony fragrance, related to mint. In summer, the white flowers are filled with nectar. These bees attract honey bees, hence the name "Melissa" (Greek for "bee"). Its flavor comes from citronella, citronella, aryl acetate and myrcene. The leaves are very dark, ranging in color from dark green to yellowish green, depending on the soil and climate. The crushed leaves, when rubbed on the skin, are used as a mosquito repellant. Lemon balm is made from the leaves of the plant. Essential oils made from lemon essential oil contain phytochemicals called terpenes, which play at least some role in the herb's relaxing and antiviral effects. Lemon essential oil is popular in aromatherapy.
