The polyphenols in Flos lonicerae mainly include chlorogenic acid, isochlorogenic acid and flavonoids. Chlorogenic acid has antibacterial activity, and flavonoids such as luteolin also have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity and have been developed as preservatives in cosmetics.
