Description:
Cabbage (Brassica oleracea L.) is an annual or biennial herb in the Brassica family and genus Brassica. Stems short and stout annual fleshy, unbranched, green or gray-green. Basal leaves thick, globose, oblate, milky white or light green; Biennial stems branched with cauline leaves. Basal leaves apically rounded, base abruptly narrow to very short broadly winged petiole, margin undulate not conspicuously serrate; Upper cauline leaves ovate or oblong-ovate, base impendent; Uppermost leaves oblong, ca. 4.5 x 1 cm, hugging stem. Racemes terminal and axillary; Flowers pale yellow, 2 -- 2.5 cm in diameter; Pedicels 7 -- 15 mm long; Sepals erect, linear-oblong; Petals broadly elliptic obovate or suborbicular.
